I don’t feel pretty

March 27, 2007

Recently, I got in the mail a laminated card so that perfect strangers can know that, indeed, I am a certified court interpreter.

I have already shown pictures of the event in this blog. I am a supreme candidate for Go Fug Yourself, that’s all I can say about my appearance that day. But the picture in the ID? F-ug-lay.

And yet I keep showing it to everyone. Go figure.

In other news: I still haven’t bought SDL Trados 2007.

SDL Trados 2007

March 19, 2007

Proz.com is offering a discount on updates to SDL Trados 2007. I am not convinced I need it. First of all, my volume of work doesn’t really justify the extra investment.  Second of all… OK, I don’t really have a second reason.

Waiting for paychecks

March 11, 2007

In the past two weeks, I have completed two translation jobs. Both of them were small and relatively simple (a proofreading assignment and a translation one).  Wee! Now all I need is my payment.

After much procrastinating, I finally logged in proZ.com and updated my profile and resume. I also updated my hourly pricing to reflect a living wage. Like I have said before, this is not a hobby.

So how’s your life?

March 4, 2007

I haven’t had calls from judges’ offices lately. I think the rumor about my day job has spread. Pity.

I haven’t completely lost touch with my translation work. I had to translate some handwritten letters (complete with spelling errors) that were sent to the SGN agency. Not too bad.

I am looking forward to more work. I just need to reapproach some people and let them know I am available.
